Taco Pie Recipe - (Mexican Food)

Ingredients:

1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell
1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup onion (chopped)
1 tablespoon beef bouillon granules (or 3 beef bouillon cubes)
1 can refried beans (16 ounces)
1 can green chilies (4 ounces, chopped and drained)
1/4 cup tomato sauce
Sour cream
Shredded Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
Shredded lettuce
Chopped tomato

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Bake pastry shell for 8 minutes. Remove the shell from the oven and set it aside. Reduce the heat to 375 degrees. In a large skillet, brown the meat with the onion and bouillon. Stir the mixture until the bouillon dissolves. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the beans, chilies, and tomato sauce. Pour the skillet contents into the pastry shell. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until it is bubbly around the edges. Let it stand for 10 minutes. Garnish with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream.

Thoughts On Taco Pie:

I love Mexican food and if you are craving a great Mexican flavor dish, this recipe will do it for you. I am also a huge fan of tacos. You may have noticed that taco seasoning is not included here but if you want more of a taco flavor you can add it. It would be good to try both variations and let me know what you like best.

More Information About Taco Pie:

Taco Pie was first noticed in the recipe world in the 1970s. Most everyone who tries this tasty Mexican-themed dish loves it. You can use ground turkey instead of ground beef if you like. If you trade ground beef for ground turkey, I suggest adding 1 packet of taco seasoning to the meat while cooking to give it a better flavor. You can visit the Kevin Is Cooking blog to see great photos of his Perfect Taco Pie recipe.

Some Questions For You:

Have you tried making Taco Pie before? Have you tasted Taco Pie? Please share your thoughts with me about this food. I would love to know what you think about it. Did you see my last recipe? If you missed it, it is called Chinese Cabbage Slaw Recipe and it is a shift from Mexican food to Asian food but if you like Asian food, you will love the recipe.

My Thoughts For Today:

Dollar General Store Coffee Maker

At my house, we run the coffee maker every day. When I was growing up coffee was always brewing at my grandparent's house. When visitors came they were always offered coffee to drink. I took the tradition of brewing coffee just about every day as an adult. I have been considering purchasing a water softener for my home. It would probably be a good idea.

The water in this area is full of lime and very hard water. I should use distilled water for making coffee but we just use our city tap water. The city tap water here is treated to a minimum. We always keep vinegar in the house and if I run a little vinegar through the coffee pot regularly the coffee pop lasts for a good length of time. Sometimes I forget and the coffee pot heating element clogs with lime. The lime makes the coffee pot brew very slow. I have owned a Bunn coffee maker in the past and it lasted a long time because the water stays heated in the water chamber.

So here's what I do. I just buy a cheap 20-dollar coffee maker from the Dollar general store and when it goes bad I just throw it out. I really need good coffee maker tips and suggestions about getting a good coffee maker. Can you help me?

Chinese Cabbage Slaw Recipe

An Asian slaw you will want more of!

Chinese Cabbage Slaw Recipe - (Salads & Slaws)

Ingredients: (Slaw)

1 large head of red cabbage (grated or chopped)
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 package of Chow Mein Noodles (any flavor, broken up)
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/2 cup slivered almonds

Directions: (Slaw)

Do not boil the noodles. Melt the butter in a large skillet, saute the noodles, sesame seeds, and almonds until the noodles are browned. Cool and add to the grated cabbage. Just before serving, add the dressing and stir well.

Ingredients: (Dressing)

1/2 cup oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup sugar

Directions: (Dressing)

Combine all the ingredients. Heat until the sugar is dissolved. Do not boil. Cool before using the dressing.

Thoughts On Chinese Cabbage Slaw:

While this Chinese Cabbage Slaw recipe might be considered an Asian dish, I decided to file it under the "Salads & Slaws" category. I have also added the label "Asian" to make it easier to find in the search here on this blog. This recipe is a great Asian salad recipe. The Chow Mein noodles and almonds give the salad a little crunch to it. You may like the texture and the flavor of the red wine vinegar is sweetened with sugar. If you haven't tried it, and you like Asian salads, I would think you'll like it. This slaw will complement any Asian main dish.

More Information For You:

The term "Asian Salad" was invented by Americans. It is basically any mixture of Asian food ingredients. Many people love Asian salads and I have met a few people who don't like these salads. It is mostly the texture that some people do not like. There are also people who think that something pickled is what makes an Asian salad. Visit Cut Fruit Collective's blog to read their article called The Origins of "Asian" Salad to learn more interesting facts and opinions.

A Few Questions For You:

Have you tried Chinese Cabbage Slaw? Have you made a version of this recipe before? If you have never made this recipe or tasted it, I would like to get your feedback on what you think of it.

Did you notice my last recipe? If you missed it, it is called Daydream Pie Recipe and if you are looking for a great dessert, this is it! It is so simple and sweet. Take a look at the recipe and share your comments with me.

My Thoughts For Today:

I made a happy mistake!

I made a small purchase on Amazon and was expecting it in the mail for my wife. I noticed an Amazon package had arrived and I grabbed it without thinking and opened it. I thought it was what I had ordered. The moment I placed my hand in the package and felt the product I knew it wasn't what I ordered. In a flash of a second, I thought my wife must have ordered some sort of makeup product. I pulled it out and it was not makeup. I immediately looked at the address on the package and saw it had my wife's name on it. We order products separately and I knew I hadn't ordered it. It was LOS POLLOS HERMANOS SOUTHWEST chicken seasoning. My birthday is at the beginning of June and I concluded she bought me this seasoning for my birthday since it is not something she would normally purchase. I had made a mistake. It was a happy mistake because I knew she bought it for me. I texted her and apologized. She thought it was funny. I told her I would pay better attention to the labels on Amazon packages in the future.

If you don't know about LOS POLLOS HERMANOS it is a fictional restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The chicken restaurant is on an AMC show called Breaking Bad. It is one of my favorite series. We visited locations from the series while on vacation passing through. It was a great experience. I do have some videos I can share of our travels. Let me know if you would like to see them and I will add them here.

Daydream Pie Recipe - Topping Of Your Choice

Sweet dreams with this pie!

Daydream Pie Recipe - (Pies & Pastries)

Ingredients:

1/3 cup lemon juice
1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)
1 Cool Whip (8 ounces)
1 graham cracker crust
1 can of pie filling of your choice

Directions:

Whip 1/3 cup of lemon juice and 1 can of sweetened condensed milk together until it is slightly stiff. Add the 8 ounces of Cool Whip and beat until stiff. Pour the mixture into the graham cracker pie crust and top with the pie filling of your choice. Chill in the refrigerator.

Thoughts on Daydream Pie:

You are going to love the flavor of this pie! As I have mentioned in past posts, I love pie almost as much as I love cake. If you make this pie and share it with a friend, it is sure to get compliments. It is very easy to make this no-bake pie. I like cherry pie filling as a topping but you can experiment with different toppings you like. If you are new to baking, this pie recipe will work great for you to try.

More Information For You:

Pie goes all the way back to Egypt. The Egyptians were the first to make something closely resembling what we call pie today. There were other countries that made pies too throughout history. Pie bases had an interesting name that most would cringe at in England. You can learn more interesting facts about the evolution of the modern-day pie by visiting BBC's article called A shortcrust history of pies.

Some Questions For You:

What is your favorite pie? Have you tried this Daydream Pie Recipe? What is your favorite pie topping? Did you catch my last recipe? If you missed it, it's called Dutch Oven Barbecue Beef Recipe - And My Special Pork Steak Seasoning.

My Thoughts For Today:

Dolly Parton Yellow Cake Mix

My youngest daughter asked me to pick up a box of yellow cake mix. She wanted to bake a cake. When I was at the store I saw a yellow cake mix by Duncan Hines. It was a Dolly Parton's Yellow Favorite cake mix. I can't help but think how business-minded Dolly Parton is. I live near Branson, Missouri and I am familiar with Dolly Parton's Stampede in Branson. It is a dine-in rodeo show. I could create a pretty good-sized list of all the businesses she has. Dolly is an icon in entertainment and business. I have visited Dollywood in Tennessee and the park is very similar to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri.

I have to mention that the cake turned out very good. My daughter is a great baker and the three-layer cake she baked tasted great. My daughter made the icing herself and it made the cake so much better. I took one taste of the icing and I was amazed. It was the BEST icing I have ever tasted. I am not exaggerating at all. My wife said the same thing. I asked my daughter if she had the icing recipe written down. I asked her if she wanted me to share the white icing recipe and she quickly said no. I am of the opinion that recipes are meant to be shared but there are two types of people when it comes to recipes. There are those who think recipes should be shared and then those who want to keep them secret. I understand that my daughter made her own recipe and all recipes come from somewhere. If she ever shares her white icing recipe I will be sure to share it here.

Dutch Oven Barbecue Beef Recipe - And My Special Pork Steak Seasoning

Dutch Oven Barbeque Beef Recipe - (Main Dishes, Beef)

Ingredients:

1 rump roast (3-4 pounds)
1 onion (medium, sliced)
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce (or to your taste)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 bottle catsup (14 ounces)
1-2 tablespoons brown sugar
Hamburger buns

Directions:

Place the rump roast in the Dutch oven. Combine the remaining ingredients, except the hamburger buns, and pour it over the rump roast. Cover the Dutch oven and bake at 250 degrees for 3 1/2-4 hours or until the meat is tender. Cool the meat slightly, cut into thin slices, and serve on hamburger buns.

Thoughts On Dutch Oven Barbecue Beef:

Dutch ovens are great to bake and cook with. This recipe cooks the rump roast slowly and seals in the juices along with a great aroma because of the special barbecue sauce mix. I love barbecue beef any time of the year. You can make this recipe all year round because it is baked in the oven. If you have a grill with a good thermostat that will work great for outdoor cooking. This recipe can be served with potato salad or baked beans. In the Southern parts of the United States coleslaw is served on top of the barbecue sandwich. I first learned about coleslaw in barbecue in West Tennessee. It actually tastes great!

Interesting Information For You:

The Dutch oven comes from the Netherlands. Cast iron Dutch ovens were created by Abraham Darby. If you are an outdoors person you can use a Dutch oven over a campfire. There are so many different foods that can be cooked with a Dutch oven. Dutch ovens are even commonly used in South Africa and other countries. You can visit the Wasserstrom blog to learn the history of the Dutch oven, more about its origin, all the countries where it is used, the many uses, and even how to care for your Dutch oven. You will also learn how to shop for a Dutch oven that is perfect for you.

Some Questions For You Today:

Do you own a Dutch oven? If you don't own one, maybe you have a friend who would let you borrow theirs until you purchase one. You will need one for this recipe. Have you ever eaten food cooked in a Dutch oven? Please share your experience with me. Did you see my last recipe that was posted yesterday? If you missed it, it is called Kahlua Cake Recipe and I think you will like it. Check it out!

My Thoughts For Today:

Read on to see my secret seasoning recipe for grilled pork steak.

I love cooking out on the charcoal grill. I know propane is quicker but I love the charcoal flavor that gets into the meat. I bought pork steak and seasoned it my special way. I am glad to share what I use here. In past posts, I have mentioned how much I like Tony Cachere's Creole seasoning. That's my secret for pork steak. I begin by sprinkling black pepper on my steaks and then follow up with Tony Cachere's Creole seasoning. I rub it in the meat really well and I carefully season the whole meat. Not too much but completely seasoned. My pork steak has a spicy taste to it so if you have delicate taste buds you might want to use less. You just have to experiment.

The beans, coleslaw, macaroni salad, and potato salad were all store-bought. It is the holiday weekend Memorial Day on Monday so I am sure we will eat more food like this before going back to work.

Kahlua Cake Recipe

A great holiday cake! Easy recipe!

Kahlua Cake Recipe - (Cakes)

Ingredients:

1 package (18.25 ounces) German chocolate cake mix
2/3 cup Kahlua liquor
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon grated orange rind
3 eggs

Directions:

Combine the cake mix, Kahlua, oil, orange rind, and eggs in a large bowl. Beat for 2 minutes at the highest speed of the electric mixer. Line the bottom of 2 greased 9-inch round cake pans with waxed paper. Pour batter into pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Remove the cake from the pans, and cool it on the rack. Spread the filling between the layers and frost the cake.

Thoughts On Kahlua Cake:

Did anyone say cake? Cake is one of my favorite desserts and it is very difficult for me to pass a piece of cake by. Even if it is the store-bought birthday cake for someone in the work breakroom, I must get a piece.

German chocolate cake is a great cake and this recipe calls for Kahlua. The Kahlua has a dark chocolate flavor, and other flavors such as sweet butter, black coffee, roasted chestnut, and vanilla. Kahlua is a great-tasting liquor and adds a nice flavor to the German chocolate cake. The alcohol cooks out but you know that.

More Interesting Information:

Kahlua is one of the most popular and well-known liquors in the market today. Kahlua dates back to the 1930s and its birthplace is Mexico. One bottle takes several years to produce. There are many cooking and baking recipes that include Kahlua. You can learn more about Kahlua by visiting VINEPAIR's article called 10 Things You Should Know About Kahlua.

A Few Questions For You:

How many baked goods have you tried that have Kahlua in them? Have you tried a drink or a particular baked item? Have you tried Kahlua cake before? Please let me know your experience with this popular liquor. Did you see my last recipe? If you missed it, it is called Cracker Jack Cookies Recipe. Either one of these recipes is worth trying and sharing.

My Thoughts For Today:

Box turtle

Living in Southwest Missouri it is not uncommon to see box turtles. They come out in the spring to forage and mate. They eat vegetation to prepare for their winter hibernation. They get on the roads a lot and often times I have to dodge them while driving.

My oldest granddaughter has been asking her mom for a turtle. Today this turtle showed up in my yard. I believe it is a male box turtle. From what I understand, the males have bright colors and the females are mostly brown. I know my granddaughter will be very excited to receive her new pet. It will be a great educational opportunity to learn about box turtles, how to care for them, and experience letting the turtle go for the winter hibernation. I kept box turtles during the warm months when I was young and it was always fun.

Cracker Jack Cookies Recipe - (Cookies)

Ingredients:

1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter (or margarine)
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup coconut
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups quick oats
2 cups Rice Krispies

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients with an electric mixer in order except the Rice Krispies. Fold in the Rice Krispies with your hand. Drop rounded teaspoons of mixture about 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. It may take more than one baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Kids really like these cookies.

My Thoughts On Cracker Jack Cookies:

Cracker Jacks are a big part of my childhood memories. My mother would bring me Cracker Jacks as a kid. I was always excited to get them. I was especially excited about finding the small prize in the box. Sometimes it was a lick-and-stick tattoo and other times it was a small magnifying glass. These cookies do not necessarily taste like Cracker Jacks but they will be well-liked by children. It is difficult for a child to not like any cookie. If you are a teacher these cookies will be a great treat for the kids in your class.

More Information On Cracker Jack Cookies:

It is uncertain where and when Cracker Jack cookies originated but it is rumored that the cookie dates to the 1930's. The Cracker Jack candy does have an interesting history though. The popcorn candy treat was invented by a German immigrant in 1893. It was not named Cracker Jack at first. You can read more on Cracker Jacks by visiting ThoughtCo and reading the article called Who Invented Cracker Jack, the Classic Popcorn Snack.

Some Questions For You:

Have you baked Cracker Jack cookies before? Have you tried these delicious cookies? If you work around children or have children in your family, these cookies will make you an instant celebrity. Go ahead and put some smiles on a child's face by baking these Cracker Jack Cookies. Did you see my last recipe? If you missed the recipe I will share it here. It is called Apricot Crescents Recipe and you might like it too.

My Thoughts For Today:

Mulberries

We have a mulberry tree in our yard and every year the tree produces nice fruit. We are always in competition with birds and squirrels to collect the berries the tree gives. The tree was planted many years ago before we bought our home. I enjoy the taste of these berries. If they are picked when they are ripe they have a sweet taste. The berries are green at first, then red, and finally dark purple or black when fully ripe. I was thinking to see if I could successfully save the seeds from these berries and try to start a few more trees to plant on the property. One tree produces a lot of berries but several more trees would produce many more to bake with.

I will share more about my progress on this project in the future. Keep your fingers crossed that I can get the seeds to sprout. I appreciate you visiting today and I would like to know your thoughts on the Cracker Jack Cookies recipe.

Spread each with 3 tablespoons jam, 3 tablespoons coconut, and 2 tablespoons nuts. Cut into 12 pie-shaped wedges. Start at the wide end of the wedge, and roll into a crescent. Sprinkle with sugar. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on the rack. These can be frozen and thawed to room temperature to serve. (Makes 6 dozen)

Thoughts On Apricot Crescents:

If you want to impress a friend who is coming over for a visit, these apricot crescents are perfect to bake and serve. They taste great! If you are asked if you bought them you can proudly say you baked them. These crescents will go with any occasion. For added sweetness, you can lightly pour icing over the top of the crescents and then sprinkle with sugar.

More Information On Apricot Crescents:

Crescents are named after their crescent shape. Crescents were born in the early 20th century, and in America came on the industrial factory scene in the late 1970's packaged and frozen. You can learn more about the interesting history of the crescent here.

Questions For You Today:

Have you baked these crescents before? If you did bake crescents in the past, what kind did you bake? If you haven't tried the apricot crescent, go give it a go! Please let me know in the comments below. Did you see my last recipe? If you didn't, it is called Southern Chocolate Gravy Recipe and it will be a great sweet sauce for biscuits, pancakes, or waffles.

My Thoughts For The Day:

A good lunch!

A friend from work brought some food for us today. It was very tasty! She brought corn chips too. She makes large portions of food and sometimes has leftovers. She said she doesn't mind bringing food to us and likes to share. It is a great blessing! She mentioned she makes the cheese in a rue with seasoning in a skillet and then adds the cheese. She used store-bought rotisserie chicken and shredded it in with the cheese.

She has shared food many times with me and it always makes me think about how food connects us as people. On so many different occasions food is present. I think food is hard-wired into our human species and makes any conversation more interesting. How was the food prepared or where the recipe came from might be a part of the interaction. You never know what you may learn while sharing your favorite food.

Southern Chocolate Gravy Recipe - (Sauces)

Ingredients:

5 tablespoons cocoa (heaping)
4 cups sugar
1 can pet evaporated milk (12 ounces)
1/2 stick of butter

Directions:

Use a large skillet if you have one. Mix sugar and cocoa together and gradually add pet milk. Stir and mix all together. Place on medium to high heat and stir as the mixture begins to get hot. As you see the mixture beginning to bubble start gradually turning heat back to medium. Continue to boil and stir as you gradually reduce the heat to medium. You want continuous bubbles but do not cook fast. Turn to low add 1/2 stick of butter and stir. The gravy is thin and does not have to be really thick.

Thoughts On Chocolate Gravy:

The whole process does not take more than 10-12 minutes to cook. Pour over hot biscuits, pancakes, or waffles. Serve with scrambled eggs and breakfast meat. This recipe does not have four so it will seem less grainy in texture. I prefer chocolate gravy like this but you can try other recipes with flour to see what you like.

More Information On Chocolate Gravy:

I found a great article by Allrecipes called Why Southerners Are Obsessed With Chocolate Gravy (and Why You Should Be, Too) that you will enjoy.

Quick Question Or Two For You:

People either like chocolate gravy or they don't. Which one are You? Reply to this post and let me know. Also, did you see my last recipe? It is called Strawberry Pretzel Pie and I know you will enjoy it.

My Thoughts For The Day:

Just to spark your imagination.

I remember being in my pre-teens and getting to visit my great-grandmother on my dad's side of the family. She lived in Oklahoma. It was a small country farmhouse and I would say around three bedrooms from my memory. The picture above is not a picture of the farmhouse. I wanted to share with you the "feeling" that a childhood experience in Oklahoma might be like.

One of my fondest memories was waking up early in the morning to my great-grandmother cooking breakfast. I could smell the scent of bacon in the air. She always had her hair pulled back into a tight little bun. She wore wire-rim glasses and a dress with an apron while she cooked. There was an old metal ladle hanging at the kitchen sink to get a drink of water from the sink.

Eggs, bacon, biscuits, white gravy, and of course she would make chocolate gravy. I always loved the chocolate gravy. Unfortunately, I do not have her recipe but this one is very close. I would love to know your thoughts on chocolate gravy.

My Thoughts For Today:

Fog in rural Missouri

See the line of fog?

My youngest daughter recently received her driving permit, allowing me to enjoy viewing the beauty of our area while in the car. She loves driving and I want the views outside the car. Living in Southwest Missouri is such a blessing. Many rural roads can be traveled. It is common to drive by small dairy farms and see cows, horses, or smaller animals. I have traveled to many places in the United States but there's no place like home. I love the dirt I'm from. Some farms grow food crops. The most common food crop here in Southwest Missouri is corn. Corn grows well here.

Thoughts On Strawberry Pretzel Pie:

This great Strawberry Pretzel Pie is not only tasty, but it is super delicious! I will always remember my first job. I worked at a local restaurant and they make strawberry pies there. The restaurant was famous for its "Little Round Pies" and those who lived away would always stop in to get their pie while traveling. The restaurant served several flavors of pies but my favorite was strawberry. The crust was good but it was not like the one in this recipe. The salty flavor of the pretzel contrasting with the sweetness will make your tastebuds dance.

Combine all the icing ingredients and mix them well. Frost the cookies with icing, and sprinkle the chopped pecans on the icing.

Thoughts On Carrot Cake Cookies:

I really enjoy carrot cake but I also love cookies and this carrot cake cookie recipe is the best of both. This cookie reminds me of carrot cake and that is why I titled it Carrot Cake Cookies. Warm cookies right out of the oven are the best. When you make this recipe it is difficult to have them warm because of the icing that is supposed to go on the cookie after it is cooled. If you know your microwave well you can warm the cookies just enough not to melt the icing but also make the cookies warm. If you don't want to do that you can just enjoy the cookies at room temperature. They will be good no matter what.

My Thoughts For The Day:

A curious food gift.

I was given this little cast iron skillet as a gift. All I need is 8 ounces of softened cream cheese and it makes about 2 skillets. I love food gifts like this. It's a cooking project that can be enjoyed. The directions say to clean the skillet and oil it like any other skillet. I don't know what I could do with a little skillet. Do you have any ideas? I was thinking I could use it to cook a single egg.

What is the most interesting food gift you have received? I once received a beer bread kit in a beer bottle with the recipe printed on the back. All I needed to do was add 1 beer, mix, and bake in the oven.

Deer Summer Sausage

A great opportunity came my way when a friend of mine offered to share some deer summer sausage. I currently live in Southwest Missouri and we have plenty of deer here. Many people enjoy hunting for deer and eating venison in many different ways. This particular venison was made into summer sausage with peppercorn and mustard seed. My favorite deer summer sausage has cheese and jalapeno inside. Have you tried venison? What do you think of deer meat? If you have cooked venison please share your favorite way of cooking this lean meat.

Cheesy Baked Potatoes - (Main Dishes, Potato)

Ingredients:

12 medium potatoes
8 ounces Philadelphia cream cheese
16 ounces sour cream
1 stick of butter
2 teaspoons garlic salt
2-3 cups shredded cheese (save 1 cup to top)

Directions:

Peel and cook the potatoes until tender. Drain the water from the potatoes and mash them. Add the cream cheese, sour cream, butter, garlic salt, and 1/2 of the shredded cheese. Mix together well. Put the potato mix into a 13x9 greased pan, and refrigerate overnight. Add the remaining shredded cheese to the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Thoughts On Cheesy Potatoes:

If you have a craving for potatoes this recipe is the one! The potatoes are so creamy and cheesy, you will love them. I grew up in the midwest and mashed potatoes were always a part of a meal. We almost always had white or brown gravy with potatoes but when I first tried cheesy baked potatoes I could eat that as a main dish. There is something about letting the potato mix set in the refrigerator overnight that makes this recipe work so well. Chilling the potato mix allows everything in the recipe to settle and absorb with the potatoes to give it a creamy taste. It is delicious!

My Thoughts For The Day:

Funny food meme a friend shared.

A friend shared this funny food meme and I had to share it with you. Have you tried cow tongue? When I was around 12 years old I tried cow tongue. My dad worked for a fence company in East Texas. He had a Hispanic coworker and we were invited to come over to eat and visit. It was a fun time and the aroma in the air of food cooking smelled wonderful. I remember being served cow tongue and at first I thought I didn't want to try it because it was a tongue. After a little convincing, I decided to taste my serving. I did like it but I haven't tried beef tongue since then. I have eaten many eggs though.
