Hot Pineapple Casserole Recipe

A classic comfort food, hot pineapple casserole is a delightful blend of sweet and savory flavors. This dish typically features a creamy mixture of pineapple chunks, tangy cheese, and a hint of sweetness, all baked to perfection.

Key ingredients usually include:

  • Pineapple: The star of the show, providing a tropical sweetness.
  • Cheese: Often cheddar, for its sharp flavor, but other cheeses can be used.
  • Sweetness: Sugar or brown sugar is commonly added to balance the tartness of the pineapple.
  • Thickening agent: Flour or cornstarch helps to create a creamy texture.

The casserole is typically baked until bubbly and golden brown, creating a mouthwatering aroma that fills the kitchen. It's often served as a side dish, but can also be enjoyed as a dessert, depending on the sweetness level.

Quote For The Day:

"The raw fruits of the earth were made for human sustenance. Even the white tails of rabbits, according to some theologians, have a purpose, namely to make it easier for sportsmen to shoot them. There are, it is true, some inconveniences: lions and tigers are too fierce, the summer is too hot, and the winter too cold. But these things only began after Adam ate the apple; I before that, all animals were vegetarians, and the season was always spring. If only Adam had been content with peaches and nectarines, grapes and pears and pineapples, these blessings would still be ours." - Bertrand Russell

Food For Thought:

Photo Credit: Funny Fishing Memes Family -Facebook

It is Wednesday and it has been a busy week for me. I found this funny food meme of a pie with a pie crust that had been made to look like an octopus. I don't know why this pie was made but it was obviously made by someone or for someone who likes octopuses. I had to look up the plural of octopus.

This meme is funny and the double entendre triggers the laugh. What answer do you think this meme tries to get out of you? If I was making this pie crust I would use blueberries for the eyes. Blackberries would work too but blueberries would look more realistic. It looks like this might be a blueberry pie. What are your thoughts?

A Few Questions For You:

  • Did you see the recipe that I posted yesterday? It is called Pizza Casserole Easy Recipe. It is similar to this Pineapple Casserole Recipe but without the noodles and pepperoni. I would love to know what you think about both of these recipes. Please leave your comment below.

A Sweet History: Pineapple Casserole

Pineapple casserole is a quintessential American dish, its origins deeply intertwined with the history of canned food and the casserole craze of the mid-20th century.

  • The Pineapple Revolution: In the early 1900s, thanks to innovations in canning, pineapple became widely accessible across the United States. Dole Food Company, a major player in the industry, contributed significantly to popularizing this tropical fruit.
  • The Casserole Craze: The 1950s saw a surge in casserole recipes, as busy homemakers sought convenient and comforting meals. The versatility of the casserole dish allowed for endless combinations, including sweet options like pineapple.
  • Sweet and Savory Fusion: Pineapple, with its natural sweetness, proved to be a popular ingredient in casseroles. Its combination with savory elements like cheese and crackers created a unique flavor profile that resonated with many.

While the exact origins of pineapple casserole remain elusive, it is clear that this dish is a product of its time, reflecting the culinary trends and ingredients available in mid-century America.

My Thoughts On Pineapple Casserole:

Many people like pineapple on their pizza. Pineapple and cheese go well together for many people but there are those who do not like it together. I really like pineapple and cheddar cheese together. This pineapple casserole gives that incredible flavor of pineapple and cheese combination. I personally like the pizza sauce that is with pineapple and cheese. It is a food trio for me.
