Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole Recipe

Quote For The Day:

"I basically have the diet of a 19th-century Irish navy, apart from the liter of stout a day. It's meat and potatoes and bread and cheese: those are my four food groups." - Daniel Radcliffe

Food For Thought:

Donut & Ice Cream Sandwich

Today was a good day for receiving free food. An acquaintance of mine owns a local donut shop. He shared a free donut with me and some friends. They were leftover donuts and were going to throw them out. I have always assumed a donut shop would have throwouts but I didn't expect them to be so good. I told him if he was going to throw them out to throw them my way.

I added an ice cream sandwich with the donut. It was a major sweet day for me. It seems I have been at the right place and at the right time this week for sweet treats. It is not a bad place to be. We only have so many trips around the sun. I figure we might as well enjoy them while we have them.

Are you looking to start a business? Donuts are among the most popular baked goods in America. It is a great business to start. You might be thinking there are so many donut shops. The amount of donut shops in America is proof that it can be a successful idea. Over 10 billion donuts are munched down by Americans each year.

How To Start A Donut Shop:

More Information For You:

Casseroles or the "Hot Dish" recipe started showing up in America during the 1930s. The base for most casseroles are condensed cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup. The Campbell's Soup Company is largely responsible for this popularity. They began promotion of their soup in recipes during the 1930s as well. In the 1950s, American housewives began using leftover potatoes to top their casseroles with. Learn more interesting facts about the "Hot Dish" or casseroles by visiting FOOD & WINE.

My Thoughts On Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole:

Most guys are running to the dinner table when you mention meat and potatoes, and especially when there is a dish that is topped with cheese. This Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserol offers the best of a hamburger and potato meal. I think the cream of chicken adds a great taste to this casserole but if you feel like experimenting with cream of mushroom, you may like that taste better.

This recipe has a good amount of salt and pepper in it, but in my opinion it is the pepper that really enhances the flavor. I like to put a lot of salt, pepper, and sugar in my recipes. Flavor is the goal for me. To complete this meal you can serve a crisp salad. What are your thoughts?

Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole Recipe - (Casseroles)

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound hamburger
  • 5 medium potatoes (peeled and sliced)
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese (grated)

Instructions:

Lightly brown the hamburger and onion in a frying pan. Salt and pepper the hamburger and onion. When browned, add the cream of chicken soup, and parika. Pare and slice the potatoes. Put a layer in bottom of buttered casserole. Cover with a layer of meat and cheese then another layer of potatoes. Pour enough milk over all until it shows around edges. Top the casserole with the remaining cheese. Bake in a moderate oven, 325-350 degrees until potatoes are done.

Keep on cooking!
