I have this great memory when I was a child. My grandmother always had Freedent chewing gum or some type of hard candy in her purse. When we would go somewhere she would get a piece of gum or candy from her purse and give it to me.



My mother almost always had CERTS in her purse. She would give me one every once in a while. She liked them a lot. I know I am not the only one who has experienced this. I am sure there were children across the country who had similar experiences. These particular CERTS are not available for purchase today. They were discontinued because of the ingredients.



I have carried on the tradition of always having chewing gum. I like Wrigley's ORBIT Peppermint chewing gum. There is an interesting story behind how Wrigley started and built his chewing gum empire.

GREAT IDEA!! FOR BACKYARD FUN, NO BUGS!!

There was some discussion a while back on getting rid of mosquitos. While there's lots of products out there, here's one way to do it, have a stylish yard and keep the costs down too.

All you need is a package of Mason jars, some wicks from Amazon You can use vegetable oil as a carrier and mix in essential oils. There are like 19 of them that repel. Google it. Mix some vanilla extract in it the blood suckers hate vanilla

• Citronella works for some bugs but not so much mosquitoes

Use a hammer and nail to poke a hole in the top of the lid, then pour in the oil, put the top on and drop in the wick. Allow about 10 minutes to soak up some oil, then place them around your backyard and light them!

Personal pizzas are quick and easy. I remember earning personal pizzas when I was a kid in school. The Book It program is still around. Pizza Hut started it 40 years ago. Now I am feeling older.




Personal Pizzas Quick Recipe - (For One)




Ingredients:



  • 1 can biscuits
  • 1 jar pizza sauce
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese (grated)
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 1 cup ground pork (cooked)




Instructions:




  1. Open 1 can of biscuits.
  2. Flatten each biscuit with the palm of your hand.
  3. Flute the edges of each biscuit.
  4. Top each biscuit with pizza sauce.
  5. Spread cooked pork on top of sauced biscuits.
  6. Sprinkle with chopped onions.
  7. Top with Mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake in the oven at 325 for 15 minutes on a non-stick baking pan.


*You can replace the toppings of your choice.

I enjoy houseplants but I have never had a green thumb. I have tried many times and to this day I still have a few plants I try to keep alive. Some people do very well with plants. I found this great idea to share with you if you are looking for a kitchen window plant. I have never tried this myself but if you have tried it I would like to know about your experience.



To start lemon seeds, you can try these steps:



  1. 1. Prepare the seeds
    Cut a lemon into wedges and remove the seeds. Rinse the seeds and soak them in lukewarm water for 15 minutes. You can also soak them overnight if possible. Then, remove the seed coat with a small knife.

  1. 2. Germinate the seeds
    Wrap the seeds in a moist paper towel and place them in a plastic bag. Put the bag in a warm, sunny location, like a windowsill, and monitor for growth. Roots should appear in 5–14 days.

  1. 3. Plant the seeds
    Fill a small pot with a well-draining potting mix, such as John Innes No 1 with added grit. Plant the germinated seeds half an inch deep, lightly tamp the soil, and water them in. Keep the soil moist but not soggy at 70°F (21°C). To retain moisture and reduce evaporation, you can cover the soil with plastic wrap.


  2. 4. Provide additional care
    Place the pot in a warm, well-lit location. You can also use a horticultural heating mat and grow lights to help the seedlings germinate and grow quickly. If the winter gets below 0°F (-18°C), you can mulch the plant.

I recently created an account on Threads, a Facebook company. It is similar to Twitter (X) and is growing in popularity among social media platforms. I follow food-related accounts and found this funny food meme.



This meme is adorable and made me smile. I enjoy blogging recipes and cooking. Cake and pie is my favorite. I try to stay in shape and sugar is a big weakness for me. It is hard to say no to a great cake. When the cheap store-bought birthday cake is brought into the breakroom at work I find myself saying "Happy Birthday!" as I stuff the cake in my face.



It is easy for me to indulge in sweets of any kind. It's my choice. My Thoughts On Almond Crescents:



Crescents are so enjoyable and there are many different types to enjoy. I am an almond lover and I even drink almond milk because of my intolerance to milk. I enjoy almonds sliced, baked, chopped, and ground. I enjoy Almond Joy and Mounds candy bars. I also enjoy whole-seasoned almonds. The spicy almonds are my favorite.



Almond Crescents Recipe
- (Pies & Pastries)



Ingredients:



  • 2 cups butter
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups ground almonds
  • 1 tablespoons vanilla
  • Powdered sugar



Instructions:



  1. Cream the butter and sugar.
  2. Stir in the flour, almonds, and vanilla to make a stiff dough.
  3. Roll out the dough on a well-floured surface to a 1/2-inch thickness.
  4. Use a round cutter and overlap cuts to make the crescents.
  5. Reroll the unused dough, and continue cutting until all the dough is used.
  6. Place the crescents on ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes or until they are light brown.
  8. Remove to a cooling rack.
  9. Roll the crescents in powdered sugar until they are completely covered.
