Beer Batter Recipe

Ingredients:

Equal parts all-purpose flour & regular beer (your favorite)

Directions:

Mix the all-purpose flour and beer until lumps are gone and the batter is an even consistency. Dip cut potatoes in batter and fry until done or golden brown.

Thoughts On Seasoned French Fry Batter:

These batter recipes can be used for french fries, onion rings, potato wedges, or any fried potatoes. Give Tator tots a try. You will love them! I prefer Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning because it gives the best flavor but you can use your favorite seasoning. The bonus beer batter recipe is a light batter and has a sweet taste to it. The alcohol cooks out during the frying process and allows the sugar in the beer to stand out.

My Thoughts For Today:

With one of my daughters baking fresh sourdough bread for us I have been enjoying more jam and jelly. When I go to the store I usually reach for jam or preserves to top my bread with. Jelly is my last choice and I like to pick grape jelly over any flavor. If jam is available I will purchase it first. I prefer strawberry jam but my favorite is strawberry preserves. Strawberry preserves taste the freshest to me and I love the strawberry fruit pieces in the preserves.

The most exotic homemade jelly I have had is Dandelion jelly a friend shared with me. I have never made jelly but I think it would be a great project. I have a mulberry tree in my yard and could possibly pick enough fruit from it to make jelly if I can beat the squirrels and birds to them.

So the question is, when it comes to jelly, jam, or preserves, what is your favorite flavor? Strawberry or Grape?

Keep on cooking!
