Brown Sugar Pound Cake With Walnut Glaze Recipe

The Walnut Glaze is WONDERFUL!

Quote For The Day:

My Thoughts For Today:

Jalapeno Cheddar Loaf

My oldest daughter just keeps on blessing us with her sourdough bread. This loaf of bread is Jalapeno Cheddar Loaf. It tastes wonderful. She made a nice swirl design on top for a great presentation.

I told her she might consider making a Facebook page to sell her sourdough bread. I am not sure of the local prices for loaves of sourdough bread but I would easily pay $10 for a loaf of this. It is worth it in my opinion. She has been making sourdough bread for some time now and she shares them with us. People love this bread and they would rather purchase it from bakers instead of making it themselves.

Do you like sourdough bread? I have some strawberry preserves that will go well with this bread. We have sliced this sourdough bread into sandwich slices and it makes great sandwich bread. The spicy jalapenos along with the cheddar cheese that's in it compliments the sliced meat we eat.

My daughter currently has a TikTok page you can visit to see all her videos. See her TikTok page called Kristin Loves Jesus.

Some Questions For You:

  • Do you like sourdough bread?
  • Does my Brown Sugar Pound Cake recipe look good to you?
  • Have you tried making sourdough bread or pound cake before? Here's a great baking pan for pound cake.
  • Did you read my recipe that was posted yesterday? It is called Lamb Curry Recipe and if you are craving Indian food it is a great one to try. I would love to read your thoughts on it.

More Information For You:

History shows that Brown Sugar Pound Cake came out of Northern Europe. A recipe was first published in 1747. An American recipe was published in 1796. Since then, there have been many variations of the pound cake. Later an Indian pound cake recipe was created. You can learn more about Brown Sugar Pound Cake and its history by visiting here.

Thoughts On Brown Sugar Pound Cake With Walnut Glaze:

This recipe is a great blend of brown sugar and walnuts in this Old-Fashion cake. The glaze recipe is wonderful! You can use a bundt cake pan or a fluted cake pan. Either one will turn out nice. I like using a bundt cake pan because it makes it nice to cut the perfect portion.

I enjoy a nice cup of coffee with my Brown Sugar Pound Cake. What beverage do you like with your cake? Many people enjoy a glass of milk.

Quote For The Day:

My Thoughts For Today:

What is this?

My oldest daughter cooked homemade flour tortillas with her little girls and shared them with me. The flour tortillas are perfect and taste better than store-bought. I am happy to have these tortillas. I was craving a snack today and thought I would use the tortillas to make something to eat. I decided on fried eggs.

I placed two tortillas on a plate and spread some mayonnaise on each while my eggs cooked in the hot skillet. I like to cook fried eggs in butter. After the eggs were almost cooked hard I placed a piece of pepperjack cheese on each egg and put a lid over the skillet to melt the cheese.

While the cheese was melting I sprinkled a little Frank's RedHot Sauce on each tortilla. I then put an egg on each tortilla and sprinkled it with Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning, folded the tortillas around the eggs, and held them together with toothpicks.

This is a very impromptu snack I threw together and I really don't have a written recipe for fried egg wraps I follow. I like to cook intuitively a lot. If I am craving something it is fun to throw it together as many would say. I do like to cook with lots of flavor so adding some sort of seasoning is a habit for me. I enjoy cooking quick snacks like this for other people and I almost always receive compliments. Maybe those who try my creations are just hungry.

My Thoughts For Today:

Sparkler Illusion.

It has been a few years back but I wanted to share a picture that was taken of me twirling a sparkler on July 4th. I am not sure of the exact date but I think it was 2020. That is the date posted on my Instagram.

July is a great time for our family not only because we celebrate Independence Day but also because of the food and fireworks that accompany it. We lived in West Tennessee mostly through the 90s and discovered great barbecue there.

While living in Tennessee we would visit local barbecue restaurants and they would serve barbecue pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw on them. I had never had barbecue sandwiches that way before and it seemed a little odd to me at first. Once I tried the sandwiches I never wanted them any other way. I love cabbage any way it is cooked. I even like cabbage raw.

We also discovered barbecue bologna sandwiches while living in Tennessee. So now my tradition is cooking barbecue bologna on the charcoal grill and serving the sandwiches with coleslaw on the sandwich. What do you think about that combination? We only do that once a year but the family enjoys it and looks forward to it each year. If you have never tried barbecue bologna with coleslaw on top, I would like to encourage you to try it.

I like to buy beef bologna and have it sliced at least half an inch thick for the grill. Nothing beats the taste of beef bologna or beef hotdogs. If you like barbecue, beef bologna, and coleslaw, you will love this combination. I would like to know your initial thoughts on this.

Some Questions For You:

  • Have you tried Grasshopper Pie before?
  • Do you like mint and chocolate?
  • Do you like creme de menthe or creme de cacao?
  • Do you know the history behind Grasshopper Pie? I will share more about Grasshopper Pie here.
  • Did you catch my recipe blog post from yesterday? It is called Pork Chop Casserole Recipe and it is a great casserole dish. I could go in the category of Main Dishes-Pork here but it is filled with potatoes and cream of mushroom soup baked in a casserole pan.

More Information On Grasshopper Pie:

Grasshopper Pie was derived from the alcoholic cocktail drink called The Grasshopper. It is said that the Grasshopper Pie was invented in New Orleans during the early 1900s. It became most popular during the 1960s and was served mostly at home parties. Thoughts On Grasshopper Pie:

This pie is a chocolate wafer crust with a creamy mint pie filling that is cold and has creme de menthe, and creme de cacao in it along with marshmallow and heavy whipping cream. There are non-alcoholic variations of this recipe you will enjoy if you don't like the alcohol taste. You can keep this pie in the freezer for a month if needed. Please share your thoughts with me here. I would like to know what you think.

My Thoughts For Today:

Food Product Review!

I have this new food product for me that I am going to review soon. It is called Gary's Quick Steak. I love trying packaged food products that are new to me. You may have tried this Sirloin Beef Steak and I would like to know what you think about it. It is a small amount of meat product but I think making a cooking video will work great here. The package comes with a seasoning packet and it is in a shrinkwrapped plastic wrapper.

Have you tried Gary's Quick Steak?

This meat product is only 4 ounces and is enough for one person. It is supposed to be a very quick meal to prepare. I think it would be good with a salad or maybe green beans. I am excited to see how this cooks up and the final result.

Stay posted and I will share my video as soon as I can!

Thoughts On Pork Chop Casserole:

When I was a child and my mom would make pork chops I was excited to have meat to eat and I immediately thought about bacon for some reason. When I began to eat the pork chops I always found them dry. I did enjoy how my mom would season them but as a child, they were not moist enough for me. I have heard many people complain about pork chops not being juicy enough for them. A benefit of a pork chop casserole is the cream of mushroom soup gives the pork chops enough water to make them more juicy. They are seasoned well with salt, pepper, and the onion soup mix to give them a superb flavor. I enjoy pork chops cooked this way and I know you will like them too if you never tried them in a casserole.

Pork Chop Casserole Recipe - (Casseroles)

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 pork chops
  • 1 package dry onion soup mix
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup (10 3/4 ounces, undiluted)
  • 1 tablespoon onion (diced)
  • 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Brown the pork chops on both sides. Place them in a 13x9 pan. Layer the remaining ingredients on top of the pork chops in the order given. Cover the pan with foil or a metal lid. Bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours.

My Thoughts For Today:

Bella our Beagle

Many times when I am typing out recipes for you to read our sweet beagle likes to lay on my lap. She is very spoiled and likes belly rubs. Most times I am writing from my resting chair instead of the desk. Bella takes the opportunity to jump in my lap. House dogs can make things difficult sometimes but they really are like family. They take a lot of time but they are well worth it. Do you have a family pet? Are you a dog lover or a cat lover? Maybe you are both. Some people do not have pets at all and that is very understandable. I know people with pet allergies who can't have pets in the house. I feel sad for those people. I would love to know about your pet. Another question, what kind of food do you feed your pet? I am always interested in the health of our pets and your feedback on the type of pet food you recommend would be very helpful. Please leave a comment below and let me know.

My Thoughts For Today:

Cinnamon Roll Cookie Dough!

I am really excited that my youngest daughter is chilling cookie dough to bake her famous Cinnamon Roll Cookies. These cookies are her own original recipe. They look terrific and taste even better than they look. I will share a picture of them after she bakes them. She used cream cheese chips in the cookie. They look like cinnamon rolls and will make you think of a freshly baked cinnamon roll. I can't get enough of them. My daughter is one of the best bakers of cookies. I know it is a dad's duty to say his daughter's endeavors are the best but I truly have that opinion. I know she could make a full-time living by baking and sharing her cookies because they are the best. I consider her cookies to be gourmet. She bakes them big and thick. She made them for the local Farmer's Market and always sold her cookies well. People love her cookies. She has a Facebook page for local customers to place orders.

Too bad masking tape does not have autocorrect. This food meme could be a little more funny by drawing a red line under the misspelled "RANTCH" label. (photo credit:) Meme Of The Day on Facebook

If you look at this food meme, you will notice it is dated 2009. Going back 15 years store prices are much different from today. When I go to the store and purchase the same things I usually do the total price I pay is at least 50 dollars more today than a year ago.

This funny food meme makes two points. First, prices are obviously different today than 15 years ago. Second, older people store more food in the freezer and forget about it. My grandparents were born in the 1930s and I have personally experienced this meme for myself when I visited their house and was told to get something from the freezer. My grandparents were post-depression era kids and knew what it was like to have very little food in the house to eat. As I get older my freezer is more full. I freeze a lot of bread.

What do you mostly keep in your freezer? I am interested in your thoughts on this subject.
